Most Recent Customer ReviewsDate : 2010-03-14 Summary : They made it better! We had the old DeLonghi for almost a decade, and have been very pleased with it. My husband uses it a LOT. This new design is a definite upgrade, because we can access everything we need from the front. This makes it easier to clean, and easier to operate in our crowded kitchen.
After my husband's coffee fondness would cause the cheap ones to break in 9 months or so, we splurged on a DeLonghi, and saved money!
Date : 2010-03-13 Summary : Failed in 29 Days Works nice and looks good but heating failed after 29 days.
It replaced a $10 coffemaker I had used for 6 years with this chrome piece of C__p. Manufacturer has poor record for repairs.
I was taken. I did not read other customer reviews before purchase.
Avoid grief, avoid this product.
Date : 2010-03-11 Summary : Avoid this coffemaker This coffeemaker attracted me because of it's front access. Within 2 weeks of purchase it stopped working, simply refused to brew. Fool that I am I went out and bought a replacement. Guess what, 3 weeks later (today) the 2nd coffemaker once again stopped just like the first. The second maker also had a problem with the hotplate coating peeling within the first week of use. Do yourself a favor, don't get one of these unless it's a freebie. And even if it is given to you for nothing, keep a jar of instant coffee in the cupboard..just in case.
Date : 2010-03-08 Summary : Coffee always leaks onto the hot plate This coffee maker is not designed well. The coffee actually drips (leaks) onto the hot plate every time you try to make coffee.
There's a lever that sits along the back wall where the carafe sits... I believe that it's there to check if the carafe is in place before it allows fluid to drip... unfortunately, it also allows fluid to drip down onto the hot plate.
Try another coffee maker...
Date : 2010-03-03 Summary : Poor quality and crappy customer service, avoid the brand Originally I was impressed by the front loading feature and the "aroma" brewing feature of this coffee maker. At this point, I would warn people to stay away from this coffee maker entirely.
The clock is very inconvenient to set. You only have the option to scroll forward, minute by minute, through all 24 hours of the day. There is no way to go backward, only forward. There isn't even a way to change am / pm, you must scroll through all 24 hours. This makes it a chore to reset the clock in case of a power outage or change the auto brew time. Really, could they not put an extra button or two on the front and make the clock workable? These features have been around in other digital clocks for quite some time.
What makes me warn people away from the coffee machine is that it dribbles horribly. During brewing, coffee dribbles down the carafe lever and onto the burner. After reading other reviews, many other people have complained about it. When I wrote to DeLonghi to complain and ask about a replacement, they refused to do anything since the unit is out of warranty. They didn't even recommend where I could get the unit repaired, they brushed me off. Save yourself the frustration and go with another brand that has more reliable engineering and better customer service. I am staying away from the DeLonghi brand entirely.
